During our first day in Isfahan we visited the Friday mosque (Jāmeh), the Grand Bazaar and the spectacular Naqsh-e Jahan square, which includes the Lotfollah and Masjed-e Shah mosques and the Ali Qapu palace.
On our second day in Isfahan, we walked through its bazaar again and drink a tea at the Abbasi hotel, located next to the Chahar Baghcy school of theology. We see the Si-o-Seh Pol and Khaju bridges, in addition to the Vank Cathedral.
After visiting the rooms of the Kuhpayeh caravanserai where we have slept, we will see the dunes of Varnazeh. On the way to Yazd we stopped at Nain to visit the Friday Mosque and the ruins of Narenj Qal´e.
The historic city of Yazd, 3,000 years old, registered in 2017 on Unesco´s World Heritage List, is located in the middle of the central Iranian plateau, an oasis between the deserts of Lut and Kavir.
On our second day in Yazd we start visiting the Alexander´s prison. At the outskirts of the city we visited the Towers of silence (Zoroastrian´s Dakhmeh). On the way to Kerman we have lunch in the caravanserai of Zein-o-Din Caravanserai.
Dasht-e Lut is a large salt desert located in the provinces of Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan. It is the world´s 27th-largest desert, and was inscribed on UNESCO´s World Heritage List on 2016.
In the morning we visited in the Lut desert the "qanat", an important irrigation method of 3,000 years of age. Already in Kerman we eat at the Vakil Tea House. In the afternoon we shopped in the bazaar and visited the mosque.
Excursion to see the garden Shazdeh in Mahan, and the citadels of Rayen (Arg-e Rayen) and Bam (Arg-e Bam). The first one is smaller but well conserved, while the second was practically destroyed by an earthquake in 2003.
To round off the trip, we visited the Naqsh-e Rostam complex, a rocky wall containing four Achaemenian royal tombs, and Persepolis, the palace of the Persian kings razed by Alexander the Great´s troops in 330 BC.
Due to a delay in our first return flight, we have to do a stop over in Istanbul. We take advantage of this to walk through the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Galata Bridge and the Spice Market.
